Storage Systems Construction Corp – CSA A660 Certified

What does this mean?

CSA A660 is a Canadian Standards Association(CSA) standard that governs certification of manufacturers of "steel building systems".

The Ontario Building Code now mandates that manufacturers of "steel building systems" must be certified to CSA Standard A660.

Storage Systems Construction is certified to CSA A660.

What is a "steel building system"?

A steel building system is any building consisting of primary steel structural members no matter what the roof covering is. The roof covering could be steel, roofing, wood or fabric. This is specifically defined in the new CSA A660 standard (2010).

What does the standard do ?

The standard mandates initial certification and a yearly external audit (by Quasar a division of the Canadian Welding Bureau) that checks for

  • Quality Control Procedures and Quality Manual Documentation
  • Engineered Design – steel structure design to CSA S16-01 Limit States Design of Steel Structures, fabric membrane designed to CSA S367-09 Air, cable and Frame Supported Membrane Structures
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB)Certification of fabrication shop to CSA W47.1
  • Fabric Seam Testing – tested at -20 degrees C, + 20 degrees C and +70 degrees C

Why is this important?

You are guaranteed a well engineered high quality product

Does my new fabric covered sand/salt storage building manufacturer need to be certified?

Yes, it guarantees a high quality engineered structure and is now mandatory for compliance with the Ontario Building Code!!
